A Chameleon
Many chameleons live in a tree called "The Big Tree".
Alvin is a gray chameleon, but he does not want to live with the others. He lives on the higher place in the tree than where other chameleons are.
Who is Alvin?
Alvin is a stupid chameleon, and he forgets things quickly.
Encouraged by his curiosity, one day randomly he alone moves to the top of the tree quickly but carelessly, and suddenly he falls from the tree!
He falls to the ground without anyone knowing.
His body lands on a big, fat, rock under the shadow of The Big Tree, and luckily, alive.
With his natural habit, he quickly turns his color to pale gray, just like where he is at the moment.
Funnily, he does not even want to try to get back. He lays there all day, and he likes it!
He has been staying for hours there now while shouting to everyone and everything, "Look, I'm a rock!"
An eight-year old girl passes the tree. Her house is not so far from the tree, and she wants to play here.
As she comes, she hears Alvin's annoying voice about himself.
"Look, I'm a rock! Look I'm a rock!"
The rocks repeat in a dim, low, voice, "Rock. Rock. Rock."
The girl comes by and finds Alvin. She knows that Alvin is a chameleon.
She lifts his tiny body with her tiny hands. Alvin stays still on her hands.
"No, no, no. You are NOT a rock!"
"Look, I'm a rock! Look, I'm a rock!"
The girl does not like it.
"No, no, no... You are not. Here I place you to the tree."
Alvin, by instinct, now changes his color to brown.
"Look, I'm a tree! Look, I'm a tree!"
The girl disagrees. "No, no, no, no. You are NOT a tree."
Alvin, for a moment, looks at her eyes with confusion, and happily shouts again, "Look, I'm a tree! Look, I'm a tree!"
"No, no, no, you are a CHAMELEON. CHAMELEON."
Alvin is confused now. He tries to repeat what the girl says to him, "Cha..me...le......"
Alvin is very confused.
".....Look, I'm a tree! Look, I'm a tree!"
The girl is sad. Then she cries because Alvin is so stupid.
Alvin becomes even more confused.
But he continues shouting happily but stupidly.
After several minutes, the girl stops crying and once again tells Alvin.
"No, no, no. You are a chameleon. You are an animal. You are special because you are cool.
Because you can change your colour. I can't."
Chameleon? What is it? Alvin does not understand.
"Here, I show you..."
The girl takes Alvin with her and climbs up the tree.
Finally the girl reaches a certain height, and places Alvin next to another chameleon whose color is green.
The two chameleon look at each other, and the other chameleon leaves.
Perhaps the chameleon is too shy.
"Chameleon. I think I get it now," says Alvin.
"You do?," the girl smiles.
"Yes."
"Okay, I can gladly go down now."
"Yes, you can gladly go down now," says Alvin.
The girl goes down, waves at Alvin, and leaves the tree. Alvin waves back and smiles.
A gray chameleon approaches, and he looks suspiciously at Alvin.
Alvin looks at him, and gladly says, "Look, I'm a chameleon!"
"But I heard you were shouting 'look, I'm a rock!', 'look, I'm a tree!'. What are you actually?"
"I don't know. Now I'm a chameleon!"
